Cargo Unloading and Hull Inspection Activities
According to Container News (Nov 11, 2025), cargo unloading and structural inspection of the vessel have been conducted at Jebel Ali (UAE) – where WAN HAI 503 was allowed to berth safely after months of anchoring offshore awaiting approval.
Currently, more than 40% of the affected containers have been discharged, and damage assessment as well as cleanup of the burned areas are being carried out carefully. This helps reduce the risk of chemical leakage and secondary pollution.
International Coordination in Recovery Efforts
According to information from SeaNews (Sep 12, 2025), after the incident, WAN HAI Lines has closely coordinated with UAE maritime authorities. The goal is to ensure that all handling processes strictly comply with safety and environmental protection standards.
This is considered an important step in the vessel recovery efforts and helps minimize disruptions to the supply chain on the Asia – Middle East route.
Lessons for the Maritime Industry
Experts believe that the WAN HAI 503 incident is not only a lesson in maritime safety management, but also highlights the importance of establishing “Ports of Refuge” for vessels in distress. This helps support rescue operations, protect the marine environment, and maintain global logistics flows.
